This year marks a powerful milestone – 50 years of NAIDOC – and at Kuuwa Rentals, we are proud to celebrate the 2025 theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.
NAIDOC Week began as a movement for justice and recognition, driven by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people determined to build a better future. In 2025, we honour that legacy while celebrating the young leaders, community visionaries and cultural custodians who are shaping what comes next. At Kuuwa, we are proud to be part of that journey.
We kicked off the week by joining UGL at their NAIDOC Week opening. Olman Walley delivered a heartfelt Welcome to Country, sharing stories and song that connected us to place and reminded us why this week matters.

We also visited the Waalitj NAIDOC Art Exhibition at Central Park Tower, which featured incredible work by local artists. A standout was the Deadly Sister Project gallery – not just because of the quality of the artwork, but because 100% of profits from art sales go back into the program, supporting young Aboriginal women to connect with culture and community through creativity.

One of our proudest moments this week was celebrating our very own Karisma, who was named Runner-Up in the 2025 Miss NAIDOC Perth program. This six-week empowerment and leadership program helps shape the next generation of Aboriginal leaders, and Karisma represented Kuuwa with strength, pride and integrity.

As a team, we also took time to watch Genocide in the Wildflower State, a confronting but powerful film. These moments of shared reflection are an important part of our commitment to truth-telling and cultural respect.
We were also honoured to be invited to Chevron’s NAIDOC event, where Karisma joined a panel discussion about her experience in the Miss NAIDOC program. Chevron’s support of the program, and the platform it creates for young voices, is helping make space for real change.

While NAIDOC Week gives us time to pause and reflect, our commitment to reconciliation and culture is year-round. From sponsoring community-led initiatives to working with Traditional Owners and supporting regional employment pathways, we are proud to be building a business that contributes to the legacy NAIDOC stands for.
As we look to the next generation, we remain guided by the wisdom of our Elders, driven by a shared vision, and committed to building a future grounded in respect, opportunity and connection.
