What It Means for Your Fleet & How Kuuwa Is Supporting Clients

At Kuuwa Rentals, we’ve always prioritised quality, reliability, and performance when it comes to the vehicles we provide to our clients. That’s why Toyota has been a cornerstone of our fleet, offering the durability and reputation our mining, construction, and transport clients rely on.

Recently, Toyota announced a temporary pause in production for several key models as they undergo powertrain upgrades to meet new ADR 80/04 emissions standards for heavy vehicles. While these changes align with the industry’s broader push toward sustainability, they will impact vehicle availability in the coming months.

Which Vehicles Are Affected?

Toyota has advised that the following models will be paused for production:

🚧 LC70 Series (all variants) – Paused for 9 months, returning in May 2026

🚧 HiAce Bus – Paused for 11 months, returning in April 2026

🚧 Coaster Bus – Paused for 16 months, returning in December 2026

Toyota is taking proactive steps to build additional stock before the pause, but we anticipate limited availability in the coming months.

How Kuuwa Is Supporting Clients During This Transition

We understand that these models are critical to many of our clients’ operations, and we are committed to minimising disruption. To support your fleet needs during this transition, we will:

βœ… Secure Stock Early – We are working closely with Toyota and our suppliers to lock in orders and maintain availability wherever possible.

βœ… Source High-Quality Second-Hand Vehicles – Where new stock is unavailable, we will provide pre-owned options that meet our quality and safety standards.

βœ… Offer Alternative Brands – While Toyota remains a preferred choice, we will identify and source equivalent vehicles from other trusted manufacturers to meet client needs.

A Step Toward a Greener Future – How This Aligns With Our Charge Forward Program

At Kuuwa, we believe in future-proofing fleets and providing sustainable solutions. Toyota’s updates align with our own Charge Forward program, which focuses on introducing lower-emission vehicle options for our clients, including:

⚑ Fully Electric F-150 Mine Ute – The first of its kind in Australia, tested on mine sites.

⚑ Hybrid Buses & Light Vehicles – Expanding options for sustainable transport.

⚑ First Hybrid Scania Truck in Australia – Introducing low-emission heavy vehicles to our fleet.

Ford- 150

We see this transition as an opportunity to work with our clients to trial new technology and alternative vehicles, helping them navigate the shift toward lower-emission fleets.
